Artist Helen Hall is pictured holding strands of white thread, stretched between her hands.

We’re delighted to welcome Helen Hall as this year’s Artist-in-Residence.

Helen is a dance artist based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. As someone with sight loss Helen is curious as to how her experience of interacting with the world around may differ from others. It is this curiosity of the margins, and telling untold stories that intrigues her and often finds voice in her work.

As part of this year’s Festival she will presenting the world premiere of Touch, Hear, Feel commissioned by Belfast 2024

Helen creates and produces her own work which has been performed in many festivals. In 2021 she was commissioned by University of Atypical to produce, Collecting Moments; showcased at Bounce. In 2017, she received an Unlimited commission to create, Inside The Speaker.  As well as creating her own performance work, she regularly collaborates with many Belfast based arts organisations to devise and delivers performance-based projects. One such organisation is Open Arts, where she was the choreographer for Luminous Soul, a contemporary dance company for dancers with disabilities.

Helen follows in the footsteps of previous Festival Artist in Residence including Eileen McClory, Suzanne Lacy, Oona Doherty, Amanda Coogan and Leonie McDonagh.
