Cahoots Workshop Programme
Cahoots NI, in partnership with Belfast International Arts Festival, presents a creative workshop programme for young people.
This four-week programme is inspired by The Sorcerer’s Apprentice, Cahoots’ spellbinding production created especially for young audiences.
Taking place at Cahoots’ community theatre space in North Belfast, the workshops offer participants the chance to come together, get creative and try something new. Across four weeks, there’ll be opportunities to explore puppetry, music and story-telling, share ideas and experiences, and meet new people.
The programme will culminate in a visit to see a performance of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice.
The workshops are free to attend and open to participants from a range of backgrounds.
The programme is made possible with funding from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade: Reconciliation Fund.

Step Into Their Story – Theatre & Performance Workshop
What would it feel like to see the world through someone else’s eyes?
Experienced theatre facilitator Christina Nelson leads a dynamic and imaginative workshop exploring storytelling, empathy and connection through performance. Using drama games, character work and creative exercises, participants will explore how theatre can help us understand experiences that are different from our own.
No acting experience is needed – just an open mind, a willingness to play and a little imagination! Come ready to create, connect and discover the stories we can tell when we see the world from someone else’s point of view.
Tuesday 29 & Wednesday 30 September | 6pm – 8pm
Maximum 20 participants per session. Participants must attend both workshops.
Create Your Sound, Tell Your Story – Music Workshop
Join us for an exciting creative music workshop where young people come together to explore the power of storytelling through rhythm, sound and collaboration. Working with professional musicians and artists from Score Draw Music, participants will experiment with different sounds and musical ideas before collaborating to create an original piece of music inspired by their own stories, experiences and imaginations.
Across the two workshops, participants will work together to develop their musical creation before performing a short piece at the opening night of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
No musical experience is needed – just curiosity, creativity and a willingness to make some noise!
Thursday 1 & Friday 2 October 2026 | 6pm – 8pm
Maximum 20 participants per session. Participants must attend both workshops and the opening-night performance.
One Character, Many Hands – Puppetry Workshop
How do you tell a story when you’re not working alone?
In this hands-on puppetry workshop, young people will discover the creativity, communication and teamwork needed to bring a character to life together. Working collaboratively, participants will explore how a group of performers can move, think and respond as one character – learning to listen to each other, trust their instincts and work together to tell a story.
No puppetry or performance experience is needed – just imagination, curiosity and a willingness to work together!
Come and discover what happens when many hands, ideas and imaginations come together to create one unforgettable character.
Tuesday 13 October & Wednesday 14 October | 6pm – 8pm
Maximum 20 participants per session. Participants must attend both workshops
