Belfast School of Art 175th Celebrations
Alice Maher and the Legacy of Belfast School of Art’s MFA Fine Art
Alice Maher, one of Ireland’s leading contemporary artists, esteemed Ulster University alumna and ambassador at the Belfast School of Art will share reflections on her time attending MFA Fine Art and the profound influence Northern Ireland has had on her artistic journey.
Alice will speak of the unique perspectives and resilience she gained, which continue to shape her art.
Following her insights, a broader panel featuring recent and past alumni, will explore the wider impact and legacy of the MFA, the first on the island of Ireland, for Northern Irish and Irish art generally. The panel will discuss how the program has consistently nurtured innovative, critical voices contributing significantly to the regional and international art scenes, and its role in fostering a dynamic artistic community, deeply intertwined with the cultural fabric of Northern Ireland.
As the Ulster University Belfast School of Art marks its 175 anniversary, this event is part of a celebratory programme focusing on past, present and future creatives. Find out more here.
