“When life gives you guitars, smash them!”

The Naughton Gallery presents the first UK & Ireland solo exhibition by American cartoonist Bianca Xunise. In a specially-developed new body of work, Xunise explores the fascinating parallels between the Black and Irish punk scenes from the 1970s to the present, in a thrilling political and musical journey from Belfast to Chicago.

Xunise is an illustrator, writer, and educator based out of Chicago. With two Ignatz Awards under their belt, Xunise is a voice for those who march to the beat of their own drum and hopes that their comics are comforting to those who feel they don’t fit in. In 2020, Xunise became the first nationally syndicated non-binary cartoonist when they joined the comic strip Six Chix, as their first Black creator. Xunise has also collaborated with Vogue, The Washington Post, and The Nib.
