David Peace
Talks & Ideas

We are delighted to welcome David Peace to Belfast for the publication of Munichs, the third novel in his football-themed trilogy following The Damned Utd and Red or Dead.

Munichs is an extraordinary novel about Britain, sport and our collective past. It tells the story of how Manchester United rose again after the tragic Munich plane crash of February 1958, when 24 passengers, including eight of the “Busby Babes” players, as well as United staff and journalists, were killed. It is a novel of the crash and its aftermath, of those who survived and those who didn’t, of how Britain and football changed. It is a novel of tragedy, but also of hope.

David Peace is the author of twelve novels, including the Red Riding quartet and the Tokyo trilogy.

He was named one of Granta’s best young British novelists in 2003.

David Peace will be in conversation with literary journalist and editor Alex Clark.
