BBC Radio 3 Concerts
Violinist Henning Kraggerud, one of Norway’s most distinguished musicians, makes his Festival debut.
Henning is Artistic Partner with the Irish Chamber Orchestra and is renowned for his versatility and exceptional programming – which often includes his own works.
He’ll be performing 2 free BBC Radio 3 concerts, alongside starry friends and collaborators: cellist Adrian Brendel and pianist Alasdair Beatson.
Thursday 22 October: Music for Violin and Piano
Including works by Greig, Svendsen, Schubert, Brahms and Henning Kraggerud’s Romantarctica: a work premiered in 2021, inspired by the romanticism inherent in voyages of great explorers like Scott and Amundsen.
Friday 23 October: Music for Piano Trio
Cellist Adrian Brendel joins Henning Kraggerud and Alasdair Beatson for a programme of Trios by Mendelssohn, Schumann and Dvořák, as well as Henning Kraggerud’s Mithrellas’ Choice from Middle-earth, for solo viola: a tale of survival and destiny.
He possesses the interpretative insight to make the music bristle with character.
