Medusa’s Notebook – The Poetry Dome
Quotidian – Word on the Street Northern Ireland
For 100 years, Medusa has cast her unflinching gaze from the Art Deco Bank on Royal Avenue.
Now, enter the Poetry Dome and experience Medusa’s Notebook, an immersive digital story offering a unique perspective on Belfast’s past, present, and futures.
BAFTA nominee Roisin Gallagher voices Medusa in a vivid narrative poem by acclaimed Belfast poet Maria McManus, a former BIAF Artist-in-Residence.
Soundscape by NI Music Album of the Year winner Arborist (Mark McCambridge) and dome animation by Aura Digital, directed by Dee Harvey.
Age recommendation: 14+
The dome is a digital immersive experience. Access is through an aperture in an inflated dome. Seating will be on bean bags or similar as the experience is best enjoyed by lying on or near the floor. The immersive experience will include strong visual images and sounds and themes of a violent and sexual nature. It is not suited to everyone.
To enter the Poetry Dome, audience members must be aware that this necessitates normal range of movement, and ability to balance. We regret that the design of the dome does not enable access to people in wheelchairs or using mobility aids.
