Memento Mori Sarah Richmond & Ian Tindale
Music

Join mezzo-soprano Sarah Richmond and pianist Ian Tindale on Halloween night for a recital of haunting songs, wandering souls and dances with death.

This programme brings together some of the most dramatic and evocative music in the song repertoire. The evening journeys through the mysterious world of Barber’s The Monk and His Cat, a selection of Britten’s unsettling Charm of Lullabies and the gripping intensity of Phaedra, before culminating in music haunted by memory, loss and longing.

Schubert’s Death and the Maiden stands alongside Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, while Saint-Saëns’ famous Danse Macabre conjures dancing skeletons and Strauss’s Allerseelen recalls the spirits of those who have passed.

Seasonal dress welcomed but not required.
