New Playwrights Showcase

To celebrate the culmination of the theatre’s inaugural New Playwrights Programme, The Lyric warmly invites you to a special performed reading showcasing four of the most exciting new voices in Irish theatre.

In Spring 2017 four writers – Andy Doherty, Erica Murray, Seamus Collins & Vittoria Cafolla – were selected to take part in the Lyric’s New Playwrights Programme, developing new work with the support of the Lyric’s Literary Manager Rebecca Mairs.  Now, audiences will have a chance to see this new work for the first time, presented as a dynamic double-bill performed reading in the Lyric’s Naughton Studio.

The Lyric is delighted to again be working with outstanding directors Emma Jordan (Artistic Director of Prime Cut Productions, recent credits including Red, Scorch, and Educating Rita) and Des Kennedy (Director, Once The Musical and Gulliver’s Travels; Associate Director, Harry Potter & The Cursed Child), who will each direct one double-bill showcase.

Showcase 1 on Sat 21 & Sun 22 will be directed by Des Kennedy

Showcase 2 on Sat 28 & Sun 29 will be directed by Emma Jordan
