Tchaikovsky’s Sixth

The Ulster Orchestra, conducted by Eivind Gullberg Jensen, present a trio of musical delights with This Midnight Hour by Anna Clyne, Chopin’s Piano Concerto No.2 and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No.6 Pathétique.

Designed to showcase Chopin’s skills as a virtuoso performer, in this Second Piano Concerto musical ideas introduced by the orchestra are given new passion and invention by the soloist – Alexander Gavrylyuk is the modern-day virtuoso to bring the work to life. The concert will close with Tchaikovsky’s final symphony, considered by both audiences and the composer himself as the best thing he ever wrote.
