Unreconciled
A Solo Play by Jay Sefton and Mark Basquil. Directed by Geraldine Hughes.
A powerful, hilarious, and heartbreaking story of courage, family, and reclaiming your voice.
Unreconciled is based on the true story of an adolescent actor cast as Jesus in a school play directed by a parish priest. Set in Philadelphia, this solo-show chronicles a survivor’s journey to confront his past, navigate a reparations program set up by the Catholic Church, and find his voice.
Told with raw honesty, vulnerability, and unexpected flashes of humour, this is a moving exploration of family, place, memory, and the elusive search for reconciliation.
Post Show Discussion: a short discussion with the audience will follow both Saturday performances on 18 Oct and the matinee on Sunday 19 Oct.

A genuine, raw, honest, and intimate portrayal. One must see it to understand the power of characterization and the finesse of storytelling.
This is no lugubrious 80 minutes; Sefton's Philly roots won't allow it. His sharp-elbowed humor makes the plot rather rollicking.
UNRECONCILED is utterly moving and thoughtfully made. Sefton’s magical, visceral performance is truly one of the best I have seen on stage or screen for many, many years.
