Northern Lights Mini-Fest
Kirill Troussov & Cathal Breslin
Belfast Music Society’s annual showcase of outstanding musicians from or based in Northern Ireland.
Kirill Troussov is one of the leading violinists of his generation. Guided and mentored by Menuhin and Igor Oistrach, he has partnered some of the world’s greatest conductors (Marriner, Belohlàvek, Gatti) and musicians (Rachlin, Hope, Bashmet, Maisky, Leonskaja) and regularly appears at the world’s great concert halls and festivals.
Derry-born pianist Cathal Breslin has a growing international career as a soloist, accompanist and chamber musician. A former Fulbright scholar, he is co-founder and artistic director (with his wife, flautist Sabrina Hu) of the Walled City Music Festival in Derry.
Their programme will include Tchaikovsky’s Valse-Scherzo with Kirill playing the ‘Brodsky’ Stradivarius violin used to premiere the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in 1881!
