Kristan Swain and Máire Carroll
Belfast Music Society
Kristan Swain and Máire Carroll both began their musical studies at a young age – eight and four respectively – and studied with distinguished musicians on the island of Ireland (Colin Fleming, of the Ulster Orchestra, and John O’Conor, of the RIAM, among others) before continuing their professional training at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
Kristan has played with the Philharmonia Orchestra (as Guest Principal Flute), the Nash Ensemble and the London Sinfonietta, and has also performed for such dignitaries as President Mary McAleese and HM Queen Elizabeth II.
Máire is an international concert pianist who has performed across Europe, North America and Asia and has collaborated with the London Sinfonietta, Crash Ensemble and Kirkos Ensemble. She recently launched her debut solo piano album, ROADS.
Their Mini-Fest programme is a tour de force of flute and piano music, culminating in Saint-Saëns’ exhilarating showpiece.
