Ulster Bank Arts Ambassador Review: Hallo
Martin Zimmerman’s performance of “Hallo” in the MAC on Friday 23rd October was an eclectic mix of movement, squeaky shoes and music.
The use of the stage and materials on it was extensive if somewhat repetitive in parts. Although there were some laughs from the audience it was darker than expected in places.
In the promotional blurb it was described as a manoeuvre of landscapes as the artist searched for himself – his attempt as a yeti to find himself in an audience member’s handbag wasn’t well received. The performance lasted an hour and thankfully the artist remained unscathed throughout after several attempts by boxes, walls and floorboards to swallow, squash or maim him.
